USC Trojans Named in Final Three for Five-Star Offensive Tackle Recruit

After narrowing his focus to eight schools in early June, Orange Lutheran (Calif.) 2028 five-star offensive tackle Austin Attalah has cut his list to USC, Texas and Texas Tech, he announced on X Monday.

Attalah is the No. 27 overall prospect, No. 3 offensive tackle and No. 1 recruit in California according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

High-Priority 2028 Target

The 6-foot-7, 290-pound Attalah doesn’t have a commitment date set, but after cutting his list down twice before the start of his junior season, things are moving fast.

Attalah picked up an offer from USC in early March during a visit to spring practice. He returned at least one more time in the spring and then again in the summer.

The Trojans have made Attalah a high-priority target in the 2028 class. He does have family in Texas, but USC does have the local appeal and the ability to visit him or have the five-star recruit come out to campus frequently because of the close proximity.

Expect general manager Chad Bowden, offensive line coach Zach Hanson and other staff members to continue being aggressive in order to keep Attalah from leaving the state.

Other Top Targets in 2028 Recruiting Class for USC Trojans

USC offered their first quarterback of the 2028 class in Frisco (Texas) Lone Star three-star Trey Wright, signaling the MaxPreps Sophomore All-American is their top target at the position. Wright put up mind-boggling numbers in 2025, accounting for a nation-leading 5,826 total yards and led his school to a berth in the Class 5A UIL state championship game.

He is a true dual-threat, throwing for 4,062 yards and 43 touchdowns, and rushing for another 1,798 and 16 touchdowns. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound quarterback has a similar skillset to Kyler Murray, who won a Heisman Trophy under Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma and is also a Texas native. Wright a two-sport star and holds Division I offers to play basketball.

USC is the heavy favorite heading into the fall for multiple local stars, any of which could be the first commit in the 2028 class.

Mater Dei (Calif.) four-star safety Ace Leutele has been attending games at the Coliseum since he was a kid to watch his older cousins play. Leutele has become a frequent visitor himself as a recruit over the years. He won a national championship with four freshmen on the Trojans roster and two commits in the 2027 class at Mater Dei in 2024.

The idea of reuniting them at the collegiate level is intriguing. Leutele wore a USC headband and gloves at a passing league tournament last month. Southern Cal is also trending for another Trinity League standout in St. John Bosco (Calif.) four-star IOL Elisha Mueller, who was most recently on campus in June to workout with Hanson.

Corona Centennial (Calif.) three-star running back Malaki Davis has named USC as his top school since the spring after visiting three times and then again in June to workout with running back coach Anthony Jones. It's also the only school he visited in the summer and local running back plans on attending every home game this fall.
