Miami Marlins star Jazz Chisholm left Saturday's loss to the Cincinnati Reds after running into the outfield wall trying to track down a double.

We chronicled that injury here, and you can learn more. After the game, Chisholm was diagnosed with a right foot contusion.

Now, on Sunday, Marlins Insider Andre Fernandez tweeted out an update:

#Marlins manager Skip Schumaker says Jazz Chisholm is dealing with turf toe and will see a specialist today. Team will make a determination after on whether or not he will go on the IL. @HeraldSports @J_McPherson1126

With an off-day coming on Monday, we may not learn Chisholm's fate until Tuesday, but any absence would be detrimental to a Marlins team that is trying to stay afloat in the National League East.

Coming into Sunday, the Marlins were 19-21 and in fourth place in the division. They are just 0.5 games back of the Mets for third and one game back of the Phillies for second place.

Chisholm has struggled out of the gate this year at the plate, hitting just .229. He does have seven homers and 14 steals. Defensively, he has transitioned well to the outfield. The Marlins re-worked their infield this year, bringing in Jean Segura and Luis Arraez, so Chisholm moved to the outfield.

One of the more charismatic players in the game, he was the cover athlete of this years MLB The Show franchise. He made his debut in 2020 and burst onto the scene in 2021, hitting 18 homers and stealing 23 bases.

The Marlins and Reds will wrap up their series this afternoon.
