The Seattle Mariners have reinstated outfielder Jarred Kelenic from the 10-day injured list, the team announced Monday. To make room for Kelenic on the active roster, the club optioned outfielder Cade Marlowe to Triple-A Tacoma.

Kelenic had been on the injured list with a fractured left foot on July 20. He suffered the injury when he kicked a water cooler following a loss to the Minnesota Twins.

In his 10-game rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma, Kelenic hit .306 with an .868 OPS. Kelenic is now a .295 career hitter with a .908 OPS in 299 minor league appearances, which is how he was able to become the No. 1 prospect in the Mariners' farm system and No. 4 prospect in baseball by 2021.

Before he went down, Kelenic was enjoying a career year at the plate. The 24-year-old outfielder was batting .252 with 11 home runs, 45 RBI, 12 stolen bases, a .759 OPS and a 1.9 WAR through 90 games.

The Mariners were 47-48 when Kelenic suffered his injury, well on their way to missing the postseason. Seattle is now 79-64, though, boasting the second best record in the American League since July 20.

Marlowe earned a call-up and made his MLB debut right after Kelenic got hurt. In 34 games with the Mariners, Marlowe hit .239 with three home runs, 11 RBI, four stolen bases, a .750 OPS and a 1.0 WAR.

Kelenic is set to replace Marlowe in a corner outfield rotation that also includes Teoscar Hernández, Dominic Canzone and Dylan Moore, while superstar Julio Rodríguez remains the Mariners' everyday center fielder.

Seattle will open up a divisional series against the Los Angeles Angels on Monday at 9:40 p.m. ET. At the very least, a win would keep the Mariners in place as the third AL Wild Card team, and it could even vault them into a tie with the Toronto Blue Jays for the second spot depending on other results across the league.
