Baltimore Orioles Poach Pitcher Tucker Davidson Off Waivers From Kansas City Royals

In this story:
The Baltimore Orioles have claimed left-handed pitcher Tucker Davidson off waivers from the Kansas City Royals, the team announced Wednesday morning.
Davidson went 1-2 with a 5.96 ERA, 1.617 WHIP and 8.1 strikeouts per nine innings in 2023 across 37 appearances. The 27-year-old southpaw started off the season red-hot – boasting a 2.25 ERA, 1.188 WHIP and 9.0 strikeouts per nine innings through his first seven outings – but his production fell off from there, leading to the Royals parting ways with the reliever this week.
Instead of Davidson getting outrighted to the minors, the Orioles have scooped him up, giving them another arm to work with as they try to shape their pitching staff for the 2024 season.

Davidson was a casualty of the Los Angeles Angels' trade deadline acquisition spree this summer, as there was no longer room for him on the roster after they brought in Lucas Giolito, Reynaldo Lopez, Randal Grichuk and C.J. Cron. The Angels dealt Davidson to the Royals in exchange for cash considerations on Aug. 1.
The Angels had just traded for Davidson one year earlier, sending veteran reliever Raisel Iglesias to the Atlanta Braves to secure the then-starting pitcher's rights.
Davidson was a spot starter for the Braves in 2021, posting a 3.60 ERA and 1.150 WHIP in four starts. He started Game 5 of the World Series for Atlanta that year, and although Davidson allowed two earned and two unearned runs in just 2.0 innings that night, the Braves still went on to beat the Houston Astros in six games.
For his career, Davidson is 3-10 with a 5.98 ERA, 1.616 WHIP, 7.1 strikeouts per nine innings and a -1.2 WAR.
