Cincinnati Reds Reportedly in Jonathan India Trade Discussions With Multiple Teams

In this story:
The Cincinnati Reds are discussing possible Jonathan India trades with three or four teams, MLB Network's Jon Morosi reported Thursday night.
Rumors surrounding the second baseman's future in Cincinnati have been swirling for months, dating all the way back to this summer's MLB Trade Deadline. With rookie infielders Matt McLain, Elly De La Cruz, Spencer Steer, Noelvi Marte and Christian Encarnacion-Strand all earning call-ups in 2023, India's place in the lineup was likely to be at risk moving forward.
Now that the offseason is officially underway, it appears as if that belief is gaining traction. Morosi said that while no deal is close at the moment, dialogue has progressed this week, and the talks are being described as active.

This isn't the first time rumors have surfaced about the Reds looking to deal India this month, either. Morosi previously reported that Cincinnati was talking about India with other teams at the GM Meetings, and USA Today's Bob Nightengale followed up with similar intel a week later.
India won NL Rookie of the Year back in 2021, when he hit .269 with 21 home runs, 69 RBI, 34 doubles, 71 walks, an .835 OPS and a 4.1 WAR.
In the two years since, however, India has failed to live up to his debut campaign. The numbers he posted as a rookie were all career highs.
This season, India hit .244 with 17 home runs, 61 RBI, 23 doubles, 52 walks, a .746 OPS and 1.4 WAR. The second baseman has also posted negative dWARs in back-to-back years
India turns 27 years old in December. He has three years of team control remaining.
It remains to be seen which clubs are interested in adding India to their roster this winter.
