Back in April, we covered the story that the Oakland Athletics were looking to purchase land in Las Vegas for a ballpark with the hopes of moving the team out of Oakland.

On Tuesday, the Nevada Independent reported that their is an agreement in place that brings that closer to reality.

Per a Tweet put out by the Nevada Independent:

"NEW: The Oakland A’s and Bally’s Corp. have an agreement in place for the team to build a $1.5 billion stadium on a portion of the Tropicana Las Vegas site, a move expected to reduce the amount of public financing sought for the project to $395 million."

So the idea of lowering public investment is certainly a notable one as that had been a hiccup for the A's in attempting to move to Las Vegas.

For fans who want to see the A's remain in Oakland, this represents a disappointing turn of events.

No matter where the A's play, the organization needs to invest in the team better than it is now. The A's are out to a league-worst 8-29 record and have gutted their payroll in recent years, trading away stars like Matt Chapman, Sean Murphy and Matt Olson, in addition to pitchers Chris Bassitt and Sean Manaea.

The A's will take on the Yankees on Wednesday afternoon at 12:35 p.m. ET. The Yankees won the game on Tuesday by a score of 10-5. Positively for the A's, Jordan Diaz hit three home runs and made a little team history in the process.
