As the Texas Rangers were busy beating the Houston Astros in Game 7 of the ALCS on Monday night, the St. Louis Cardinals were catching strays on social media. Here's why:

Per Jeff Passan of ESPN:

On Dec. 21, 2019, the Texas Rangers paid a nominal sum of cash to the St. Louis Cardinals for the rights to a 26-year-old outfielder with 17 major league at-bats.

His name was Adolis Garcia.

In the ALCS this year, Garcia is hitting .357/.400/.893 with five home runs and 15 RBI.

In the postseason as a whole, Garcia is hitting .327 with seven homers and 20 RBI. He's posted an OPS of 1.102 over 52 at-bats. He just made multiple instances of baseball history and was named the ALCS MVP.

It's certainly tough to see for Cardinals fans who just watched their team finish last in the National League Central. More Cardinals fans chimed in by saying that the team also got rid of a young Randy Arozarena. Ouch.

Though he battled an injury at the end of the year, Garcia put together an incredible regular season as part of Texas's stacked lineup. He hit .245 with 39 homers and 107 RBI. He also posted a. 836 OPS and was named an All-Star.

Lifetime, he's a .244 hitter with 97 homers and 299 RBI.

The Rangers don't know who they'll play yet in the World Series but it will be either the Arizona Diamondbacks or the Philadelphia Phillies.

That NLCS is heading to Game 7, which will be played on Tuesday night.
