Yordan Álvarez Trade Fits to Save Star From Astros After Carlos Correa Injury

In this story:
The Houston Astros are teetering dangerously close to a disaster this season.
A 15-23 record should be enough to qualify a season as a disaster for a club that entered the season with hopes of being a contender. The reason why the Astros are "teetering" towards a disaster is simply because of the fact that the American League has had a tough season overall. Houston is tied for the worst record in the American League, and yet it is just four games out of first place in the American League West.
Things aren't good for Houston and got worse this week as the club lost All-Star infielder Carlos Correa for the season. There's a very real chance that Houston continues to spiral and completely falls out of contention in the division, despite the overall struggles in the American League.
If Houston is in that zone as we inch towards the 2026 Major League Baseball trade deadline in August, then the Astros should seriously consider listening to teams about a potential trade centered around slugger Yordan Álvarez. He has been great, despite the Astros' struggles. He has played in 38 games and is slashing .319/.423/.638 with 12 homers, 27 RBIs, one stolen base, 22 walks, nine doubles and 26 runs scored. Álvarez is a 28-year-old superstar with two more seasons of control.
We've already taken a swing once at teams that could make sense for the slugger. Now, that Correa is out for the season, let's re-examine with new fits. Initially, we mentioned the Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, and the Philadelphia Phillies. While they all still would make sense, let's look at more.
Chicago White Sox

Hear us out here. The White Sox are 17-20 and have so much young talent throughout the organization after trading guys away, like Garrett Crochet and Luis Robert Jr. The White Sox are better this year and are fortunate to have rookie Munetaka Murakami, who looks like a legit star. The American League is weak this season. The White Sox have the young talent. What if Álvarez is the veteran, superstar talent to put around the White Sox's young core? This club is just going to get better with the young pieces on the roster. If you add Álvarez to the mix, all of a sudden this team looks like the favorite in the American League Central.
Seattle Mariners

The Mariners have the pitching, but the offense hasn't lived up to expectations so far this season. A trade between two American League West rivals would obviously be shocking. Therefore, the Mariners would have to pay up. Houston has the worst pitching in baseball. The Marienrs have some of the best. Maybe there's a pathway to some sort of conversation. Although, it isn't the most likely on paper.
Atlanta Braves

The Atlanta Braves are the best team in baseball. The Braves are 26-12. Right now, Dominic Smith is the clubs designated hitter and has been excellent so far this season. Smith is slashing .324/.351/.521 with four homers and 18 RBIs in 28 games played. He has been great. But the Braves are legit contenders. If Houston is open to a deal, the Braves should actually be first in line.
