Dana White Destroys Ian Machado Garry Again Over UFC Loss to Islam Makhachev

UFC CEO Dana White went on another all-time rant one week removed from Islam Makhachev's unanimous decision win against Ian Machado Garry at UFC 330 in Philadelphia, Pa., last Saturday.
UFC Sacramento saw 10 finishes throughout a high-octane 13-fight card Saturday night, capped by a unanimous decision win by Gregory Rodrigues over home-state fan favorite Anthony Hernandez. After the event, White took a moment to expand on his comments about Garry's fifth-round activity in the eventual Makhachev loss during his post-fight media scrum.
Dana White just went on another rant about Ian Garry being too nice to Islam Makhachev during their fight 😭

"Tell [Islam] how f*cking great he is when they're putting the belt on you. He might never have that opportunity again.

"Tell [Islam Makhachev] how f****** great he is when they're putting the belt on you," White said of Machado Garry. "He might never have that opportunity [to win the title] again.
UFC CEO Dana White Remains Critical of Ian Machado Garry

White wasn't quite done, adding that Machado Garry was too focused on his mutual respect for Makhachev than the fight itself.
"You have five f****** minutes," White said. " Every second of that [last] round counts. Don't waste 10 seconds telling this guy you f****** love him."
White said that Machado Garry had the perfect strategy, sharing an interesting nugget alongside UFC CBO Hunter Campbell regarding his gameplan from the moment the fight started.
“You’ve worked your whole life to get there, and you come out in the fifth round after you do all this great work,” White said. “When the first round started, Islam had him up against the fence and was holding onto him. I said, ‘If this is the game plan for five f****** rounds, Islam’s gonna be in big trouble in the fifth round, in my opinion.”
Sure enough, Machado Garry had Makhachev in deep waters but couldn't pull the trigger to earn a career-defining win for him, Ireland and international UFC fans.
Is Ian Machado Garry No Longer a Suitable UFC Title Challenger?

“And I thought that Ian Gary did good work leading up to the fifth round, and I’m assuming that was the game plan, and you wanna come out and start hugging and shaking hands and, you know," White said of Garry's disconnect in the Octagon.
White said his "killer instinct" remark toward Machado Garry wasn't necessairly a slight at the now-former welterweight title challenger, but rather an MMA learning lesson that could apply to all fighters regardless of circumstances.
What's Next for Ian Machado Garry?

"Well, you either have it, or you don’t, in my opinion, or you made the mistake one time, and you won’t do it again," White said. "He’s one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet, but be a f****** nice guy when that five minutes is up.”
We'll see how Machado Garry bounces back. For now, though, Makhachev remains the target to dethrone at 170 pounds.
