RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. – Sierra Canyon defeated Etiwanda 60-51 on Tuesday to avenge a 69-57 loss in the Southern Section championship and advance to the CIF State Open Division Girls Basketball Championship.

In the CIFSS finals, 5-star guard Juju Watkins scored 20 points in an electrifying first half onslaught, but she got into foul trouble in the second half. On Tuesday, Watkins was not to be denied and led the Trailblazers with 29 points, 15 rebounds, and three blocks. Izela Arenas scored eight points, and MacKenly Randolph, Kayla Malek, and Crystal Wang added seven apiece for SC.

The Southern California Regional championship victory brings Sierra Canyon its first CIF title since it won state at the Open Division level in the 2018-19 season, and is the first CIF championship of Watkins' career.

With the loss, the Eagles' magical undefeated season came to an end, but not before they won their first ever CIFSS Open Division championship. Destiny Agubata led Etiwanda with 17 points and six rebounds (tied), Aliyahna "Puff" Morris scored 14 points, and Kennedy Smith finished with 10 points and six rebounds.
