Highlights and photos: Seventh inning patience leads Mission Hills to 4-2 win over top-ranked Rancho Bernardo

The Grizzlies drew five walks over the final two innings of Monday's game.

RANCHO BERNARDO, Calif. -- Mission Hills didn't get a hit in the final inning of Monday's game but the Grizzlies still managed to score two runs.

Brody Mitchell reached on an error to begin the top of the seventh inning and the Grizzlies went to work. Matthew Delvecchio followed up by bunting Mitchell over to second. After Andrew Nagtalon flew out, Rancho Bernardo elected to intentionally walk Jackson Waller who had already racked up three hits on the day. Kyle Rogers, Gavin Gregory, and Jacob Imoto then drew three consecutive walks that resulted in two runs that gave Mission Hills a 4-2 lead.

Rancho Bernardo started a rally in their half of the inning, but a double play and flyout ended the game and gave Mission Hills a huge win over the Broncos, who entered the day as the top team in the San Diego Section.

Mission Hills starting pitcher Cody Delvecchio struck out seven but allowed the first two home runs of his career when Rancho Bernardo's Tyler Arnold and Kevin Takeuchi each homered in the second and third innings, respectively. Delvecchio, a UCLA-signee, was forced to leave the game with one out in the sixth inning after aggravating a blister on his pitching hand
