SAN DIEGO -- Sage Creek completed their improbable playoff run on Thursday night, beating Cathedral Catholic 5-0 in the San Diego Section Division 2 championship game.

Sage Creek, the 12-seed in the bracket, had to play seven games over the past 11 days to win their second CIF title in school history.

The Bobcats exploded for five runs in the sixth inning against Cathedral Catholic on Thursday night and never looked back.

Senior Luke Caruso, who led the Bobcats with 43 hits this season, took the mound for Sage Creek. He delivered his best outing of the season, holding the Dons to four hits over seven shutout innings.
