Timmy Lawson, 3-star rated tight end, commits to North Carolina over Duke, Purdue and TCU
FORT MYERS, FLORIDA- It’s a rarity these days to see a two-sport high school athlete commit to a major Power 5 program for two sports like baseball and football.
On Monday afternoon, one of those rare moments occurred over in Southwest Florida.
Bishop Verot (Florida) junior tight end Timmy Lawson announced via Twitter that he is committing to the Tar Heels for baseball and football. The pitcher and tight end is a 3-star rated prospect according to 247Sports and also had offers on the table from Arkansas, Duke, Purdue and TCU.

Lawson performed on the gridiron and the baseball diamond, having stellar seasons in both sports. On the mound for the Vikings, the junior went 2-0 with a 1.94 earned run average and fanned 36 batters.
Through 13 games for the Vikings last season, Lawson was undoubtedly the one of the top targets through the air for quarterback Carter Smith and the Bishop Verot offense. Lawson hauled in 32 passes for 469 yards and scored one touchdown.
