Lecanto (Florida) names Antoin Scriven as new head football coach

Scriven takes over for Jacob Coulson

When it came down to it, Lecanto High School wanted to make sure whomever was taking over for the departing Jacob Coulson knew the task at hand.

Four county championships in a row is something the Panthers relish in and want to keep going. Their new hire is all too familiar with the job he will need to do.

Saturday morning via X, formerly known as Twitter, Lecanto announced the promotion of defensive coordinator Antoin Scriven to head coach.

“Lecanto High School Principal Jason Koon was flooded with names of possible coaches who wanted to take over the 4-peat County Champion Panther Football program, but it turns out he didn't have to go far naming current defensive coordinate Antoin Scriven as his next head football coach.” - Lecanto High School Athletic Department statement via X

The Panthers’ post eluded to there was a vast amount of interested candidates in the briefly opened head coaching position. In the end, it all made too much sense to tab Scriven as the next in charge.

Lecanto's Jacob Coulson stepping down to accept assistant job at Georgetown (Texas)

Scriven is tasked with taking over for departing Jacob Coulson, who last month accepted an assistant coaching position to move back to his home state of Texas at Georgetown High School.

Coulson led the Panthers for one season, going 5-5 and just narrowly missing out on the postseason despite having one of the area’s tougher schedules.
