The non-conference matchup between De Smet and host St. Mary's on Friday night pitted two of the Top 10 teams in the SBLive Missouri Power 25 rankings

One team was clearly better than the other.

No. 4 St. Mary's dominated eighth-ranked De Smet in a lopsided 45-14 victory that showcased how talented the reigning state champion Dragons are on both sides of the ball.

St. Mary's (6-1) extended its win streak against in-state opponents to 17 games with a dominant effort against De Smet (3-4), which now has four losses against opponents with a combined record of 23-4.

The Dragons' many weapons made a difference on Friday night.

Chase Hendricks scored two touchdowns – on a run and a reception. Twin brothers Jamal and John Roberts each scored rushing touchdowns. Gabe Booker returned an interception for a score.

St. Mary's led 7-0 after one quarter, 17-0 at halftime and 38-0 in the third quarter before De Smet scored. Sophomore quarterback Dillon Duff tossed two late touchdown passes for De Smet – to Cameron Wright and Allen Willis – but the game was out of reach at that point.
