Rays outfielder Kevin Kiermaier left Saturday’s game against the Tigers in the fifth inning after fracturing two bones in his hand while attempting a diving catch.

When Kiermaier dove forward for a James McCann flyball, his glove became caught in the grass, bending his hand backward and leaving him writhing around in pain. He left the game immediately.

Desmond Jennings entered the game in Kiermaier’s place, and will likely take over on a regular basis until Kiermaier can return.

Kiermaier entered Saturday hitting .240 with five home runs and 16 RBIs.
