Conflicting Reports on Greg Newsome II Trade Request

A report quickly came out that CB Greg Newsome II has requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns after he hired a new agency. Since then, Adam Schefter has shot down the report essentially, saying all is well between both sides.

It looks like Newsome will be in attendance on Monday when the Browns begin phase one of their offseason program. The attendance in itself will point toward there being no immediate trade request at this time.

With the emergence of Martin Emerson Jr. on the outside as a rookie, Newsome II was moved inside with Joe Woods while he ran the defense. Now, it’s up to new defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz to decide how he wants to use Newsome.

Rightfully so, Newsome wants to be paid like an outside corner when that time comes. If a trade request does come about, it points toward him not getting those reps outside.

Clebdlsnd will hold onto their trio of young cornerbacks for the time being it looks to be, as Newsome is still at least three seasons away from a new contract kicking in.
