Kevin Stefanski is Excited About Browns Three Offensive Acquisitions
Cleveland Browns have had an emphasis on the defensive side of the ball during free agency, and rightfully so. But the Browns did not abandon the offense in the process, adding three playmakers to that side of the ball alone.
When talking to the media during the NFL meetings, head coach Kevin Stefanski revealed his excitement for those three in a way, starting with the trade for Elijah Moore.
Stefanski quickly shut down the narrative that Moore is a slot guy.
"He's won plenty on the outside as well. He's the type of player you just want to get the ball in his hands. I think if you go back to his college take there is a ton of down-the-field throws," Stefanski said.
It sounds like the Browns are going to get creative with their new weapon. In the past, the Browns have done some different things with Amari Cooper and Jarvis Landry, for example in years past.
"There is opportunities to hand it to him, throw it over the middle, throw it to him on the outside, I just think there's no shortage of ways that you want to get him involved."
The Browns supposed some people when they added veteran WR Marquise Goodwin. Goodwin is a 32year old pro that has been in the NFL for nearly a decade.
"Marquise brings a veteran element to our room," Stefanski stated.
He brings certainly speed, he's made a lot of plays in his career. He's made a lot of big plays in his career. A bunch of long yardage touchdowns."
Adding a tight end was not a priory for Cleveland but the chance presented itself. When the market looked right for tight end Jordan Akins, Cleveland pounced on him.
"He's had a unique career but is a really good run-after-the-catch type of player. We felt he was available for us at the right opportunity."
Through the draft and the rest of free agency, don't be surprised if the Browns add more on that side of the ball. Cleveland still needs depth at running back and potentially more wideout help. You can never have enough offensive line help, either.
