Browns Acquisition Dalvin Tomlinson Excited to Play With Myles Garrett, Speaks on his Strengths

Newly added Cleveland Browns defensive tackle talks about his strengths and Cleveland's interest in him.

Cleveland Browns newly added defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson made his first local radio appearance despite not having signed a contract yet. Tomlinson spoke about the Browns interest in him and what his strengths are that he brings to the football field.

"I'm super excited to play with Myles," Tomlinson spoke on an appearance with 92.3 The Fan.

I'm excited to get out there and meet everybody and build some chemistry with the rest of the defensive line and go out there and make some plays."

Tomlinson revealed that he believes the Browns have been interested in him for some time.

"I feel like the Browns have had an interest in me since last October, November," said Tomlinson.

Cleveland had known by that point in the season last year that they needed more at defensive tackle. The job was not getting done by Taven Bryan and Jordan Elliott.

Insert Tomlinson, a 6-foot-3 and 325-pound human, that Cleveland hopes to have to stop the run. Each season in his six-year career to this point, the former Alabama Crimson Tide product has graded out well per Pro Football Focus.

Tomlinson has the ability to rush the passer with his 13 sacks so far in his career. Not so much a player that is going to get the running back in the backfield but he is able to hold position and allow minimal yardage.

When asked about the strengths that he will bring to the Browns, Tomlinson said, "Stopping the run as well as being an effective pass rusher. Batting the ball down, getting QB hits, and helping someone else get to the QB."

The last part could be key. As Tomlinson will take the load off of Garrett and co., it will be tougher for guards to double-team than before.

It looks to be that the Browns landed a player that wants to be in Cleveland and their star defender had an impact on that.
