Watch Gordie Howe wow 'em on classic TV game shows

The great Gordie Howe made heartwarming appearances on classic TV Game Shows "To Tell the Truth" and "What's My Line."

Gordie Howe wasn't just a natural on the ice. Turns out he had a knack for TV as well.

Mr. Hockey, who passed away Friday at the age of 88, made a memorable appearance on a 1967 episode of the classic quiz show To Tell The Truth. The game challenged  celebrity panelists Tom Poston, Peggy Cass, Larry Blyden, and Kitty Carlisle to interview three men to determine which of them was actually the Red Wings superstar.

Cass flashed her hockey smarts with some deep-cut questions ("What is Reg Fleming known for?"), and there's some painful stumbling by the two imposters but the highlight of the segment is the great Kitty Carlisle, who correctly picked Howe out of the lineup because of ... well, you have to hear her explain it yourself. It's Holmesian.

Howe later appeared on a 1973 episode of What's My Line, where he was quickly identified by comedian Soupy Sales.

Hearing the genuine affection between the two Detroit legends is enough to put a smile on the face of anyone feeling Gordie's loss today.
