Serena Williams passes Roger Federer for major match wins record
Monday September 5th, 2016

With a 6-2, 6-3 win over Yaroslava Shvedova in the fourth round of the U.S. Open on Monday, Serena Williams passed Roger Federer for most career Grand Slam match win with 308.

Williams, the top seed in this year's tournament in the women's draw, was alone in second place after passing Martina Navratilova with win No. 307 on Saturday.

The 34-year-old has cruised through the Open thus far, having won every set in her four matches. Her sister, Venus, was eliminated at the hands of tenth-seeded Karolina Pliskova earlier in the day.

Williams will face fifth-seed Simona Halep in the quarterfinals on Wednesday.
