Football fans will witness a significant changing of the guard this weekend at MetLife Stadium this weekend. The New York Giants have decided to bench Russell Wilson for rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart ahead of their Week 4 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.

Wilson has struggled early on with his new team and the Giants are the only NFC East team without a win this season. Now Dart will take on a 3-0 Chargers team that’s dominated the Giants in recent years. The rookie is in for a major challenge.

New York is hoping Dart can provide a spark to an offense that’s scored less than 10 points in two of its three games this season. Dart has plenty of talent and potential, but there’s been no clear indication that he’ll be a clear upgrade from Wilson under center. 

There will likely be a learning curve for the rookie, especially against one of the NFL’s better secondaries. Los Angeles has looked sturdy against the pass and has allowed just two passing touchdowns so far this season.

Los Angeles has won and covered in its last five matchups with New York and I think that trend will continue in Week 5. Dart doesn’t appear to be ready to take on elite coverage with so few meaningful reps against competitive first-team defenses.
