Luka Doncic Injury Update Causes Massive Shift in Lakers vs. Kings Odds on Sunday

The Los Angeles Lakers have shifted to underdogs on Sunday against the Sacramento Kings with Luka Doncic out.

The Los Angeles Lakers will be without superstar Luka Doncic for at least a week due to multiple injuries, ruling him out for Sunday's game against the Sacramento Kings.

If Doncic only misses a week, he will miss games against Sacramento, Portland, Minnesota, Memphis and potentially Miami next Sunday. This is a major blow for a Lakers team that is already down LeBron James (sciatica) to open the 2025-26 season.

On Sunday, the Lakers went from 3.5-point favorites in the odds at DraftKings Sportsbook to 3.5-point underdogs with Doncic ruled out. Los Angeles will be without James until December, putting the team in a tough spot early on in the season.

Doncic is off to a fast start this season and is +425 in the odds to win the MVP and the Lakers are +1500 to win the NBA Finals. Through two games, Doncic is averaging 46.0 points, 11.5 rebounds and 8.5 assists per game while shooting 62.0 percent from the field and 31.8 percent from beyond the arc.

The Lakers will likely be underdogs in almost every game that Doncic misses -- especially with James out.

Doncic's first chance to return will likely be next Sunday against Miami.
