Watch: John Newman III Confirms his Return for 2022-23 Season, Wants David Dejulius Back

CINCINNATI — Not much went right for the Bearcats in Saturday's 56-54 loss to the South Florida Bulls, but one Bearcat gave fans some good news when it comes to the 2023-23 season.
John Newman III has one more season of eligibility left, and he confirmed he is coming back. The senior also said he's working to convince David Dejulius to do the same.
"Yeah, yeah of course," Newman said when asked if he's recruiting Dejulius to stay. "I want to have Dave back; he's one of the best players I've ever played with. His ability to make plays, like y'all saw tonight; He was throwing the ball all over the court, making plays for other people.
"And it's crazy because he can do that and score at a high level. He's a hooper for real. So yeah, I want him back with me. I'm going to do as much as I can."
Newman is fourth on the team in scoring this season and is averaging 6.8 points, four rebounds, and 1.5 assists. He owns the third-best Bayesian Performance Rating on the team (17.2) and the second-best DBPR (17.8).
Every top 1-5 man lineup combination for Cincinnati this season involves Newman. Check out his extended thoughts on the game and coming back next season.
