Weekly NET: Bearcats Barely Cling to Top-100 Status Heading Into AAC Tournament
CINCINNATI — The Bearcats men's basketball team closed the season on a five-game losing streak for the first time in over a decade, and it didn't do them any favors in our final Weekly NET of the season.
Cincinnati (No. 100) is in the triple digits for the first time under Wes Miller after falling one spot since last week's check-in. UC dropped both games of its Texas road trip to Houston and Tulsa.
Speaking of Houston the Cougars lost to Memphis this weekend and fell two spots to No. 5. Memphis overtook SMU as the second-ranked AAC team, moving up past seven teams to No. 35. SMU is down three positions to No. 47. Wichita State moved up three slots to No. 81, UCF fell seven spots to No. 95, and Tulane made their first appearance in the top-100 at No. 97.
Cincinnati is trying to shock the world during a second trip to Texas in as many weeks. The eighth-seeded Bearcats open up AAC Tournament play on Thursday at 1 p.m. ET against No. 9 East Carolina.
