Watch: Luke Fickell Updates the 2022 QB Battle

CINCINNATI — Spring practice is in full swing for Luke Fickell and the Bearcats. All eyes are on the quarterback battle between Eastern Michigan transfer Ben Bryant and redshirt sophomore Evan Prater.
Bryant spent multiple seasons with Cincinnati before leaving for EMU last offseason, while Prater has patiently waited behind Desmond Ridder over the past two seasons. That clash will wage on through fall camp and play a big role in Cincinnati's hopes of capturing a third-straight AAC Championship.
"They kind of go back and forth," Fickell said about the battle. "And that's not just coach talk. I think they each have had their moments. The greatest thing that we've got going is that we've got a great competition, and competition brings out the best in everybody. I see a sense of urgency from both of them. I think that's a really good thing."
Competition is the theme for UC football over the next 5-6 months, and it's been on full display at spring practice. Check out some more interviews with DL Jabari Taylor and CB Arquon Bush from this week.
From growth… to change.
