Bearcats Offer 2022 Wide Receiver Decoldest Crawford

The receiver had been committed to LSU since Oct. 2019.

CINCINNATI — A coaching change at LSU opened the door for Cincinnati to pursue one of the top 2022 recruits in Louisiana.

Green Oaks (Shreveport, LA) wide receiver Decoldest Crawford reopened his recruitment on Tuesday and announced that Cincinnati extended him an offer. He ended his high school career with 119 catches, 2,013 yards, and 17 touchdowns.

Crawford's de-commitment is a bit of shock. He pledged services to the Tigers in Oct. 2019 and now can shake up the class rankings a bit if he jumps to a new school. Crawford was LSU's only wide receiver commit in the 2022 class.

Rivals and 247Sports ranked him as a three-star recruit. He is Rivals 80th ranked receiver and lands at No. 61 on 247Sports' position rankings. Crawford is planning a visit to Texas soon and had 12 offers from schools like Arkansas, Ole Miss, USC, and Penn State.

If the Bearcats do land the 6-foot-1, 183-pound receiver, he'll immediately have one of the best names on the team. Crawford won't be lacking confidence either.

"My mom came up with my name," Crawford told 247Sports about his name going viral. "She named me this because she knew I would be the best athlete in the family."

Crawford had landed on Dec. 15—the first day of the upcoming early signing window—to sign his NLI, but with the pending Texas visit, that decision could get moved back to the regular signing window in February.

All of the current names on the Bearcats are prepping for the Cotton Bowl to decide one half of the National Championship matchup. They face Alabama on Dec. 31 at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
