Justus Terry's Flip to USC is Déjà vu for Many Georgia Fans

The Bulldogs have lost a highly talented defensive lineman to the USC Trojans. But this is not the first time this has happened...

The Georgia Bulldogs' 2025 recruiting class took a hit this weekend as 5-star prospect Justus Terry announced that he was flipping his commitment from Georgia to joining Lincoln Riley at USC.

While the news came as a surprise to many Bulldog fans, this is not the first time that the Trojans head coach has nabbed a highly talented defensive lineman from under Kirby Smart’s nose. Just last year, Bear Alexander a 4-star defensive tackle for the Dawgs announced his entrance into the transfer portal just hours before the Bulldogs’ 2023 G-Day kickoff.

Alexander finished the 2023 season for the Trojans with 47 total tackles and was a bright spot on a USC defense that was for the most part, quite lackluster in its final year in the Pac-12 conference. Many analysts believe that the 2023 season will be an even bigger year for the Georgia transfer as the Trojans transition to the BIG10 conference. 

Though, the Georgia Bulldogs have never had any issues with recruiting high-level talent under Kirby Smart and will likely be just fine despite the loss of Justus Terry. It does not make the growing trend any less frustrating for fans.
