2024 Athlete Demello Jones Includes Kentucky in Top 10 Schools

Kentucky football made some waves around the end of January and beginning of February, beginning to add names to its 2024 class.

A pair of in-state offensive lineman — Hayes Johnson and Aba Selm — are the first two names on the board for coach Mark Stoops. Homegrown talent is great, but that isn't all the Wildcats are after.

On Monday evening, up-and-coming 2024 athlete Demello Jones included UK in his top-10 list. The Cats are joined by:

Miami
Vanderbilt
Alabama
Tennessee
Ohio State
Notre Dame
South Carolina

Standing 6-foot-1, 176 pounds, Jones held 25 offers (per Rivals) before trimming the list down to 10. He is considered a 4-star prospect by both Rivals and 247Sports, with the former considering him the No. 122 player in the 2024 class.

Listed as an athlete, Jones is a skill position talent out of Swainsboro, Ga, who wore many hats during his 2022 season. He rushed for 1,279 yards and 20 touchdowns in 14 games for Swainsboro High School while also catching seven TDs and racking up 384 reception yards. He even completed six passes for 144 yards and a score through the air.

Kentucky defensive backs coach Chris Collins is leading his recruitment to Lexington. Per On3, Jones has taken unofficial visits to South Carolina, Georgia and Alabama. UGA is viewed as the home-state favorite.
