Notre Dame has added a huge piece to its 2025 class by landing Lucedale (Miss.) George County quarterback Deuce Knight. The elite signal caller picked Notre Dame over Tennessee, Alabama, Ole Miss and many others.

Knight has been the top quarterback on the Notre Dame board in the 2025 class for some time. The Irish were considered to be the leaders for his commitment for months, but as time wore on the position seemed more and more tenuous, but Gino Guidugli was able to score the first big commitment of his tenure at Notre Dame.

The left-handed quarterback has tremendous physical talent, and he's not even close to reaching his full potential. His game right now is more about potential than it is production, but Knight's tools are truly elite. Knight has an exceptionally strong arm and a clean release, and he's a major threat inside and outside of the pocket. His ability to effortlessly make every throw on the field makes him a quarterback coach's dream, and his ability to extend plays and be dynamic out of structure fits the modern quarterback perfectly.

As he continues to enhance his technical skill, Knight's game will take off. There just aren't many quarterbacks with his combination of size potential, arm strength and athleticism.

Knight is ranked as the nation's No. 26 overall player and the No. 1 dual threat quarterback in the country according to Rivals. He is ranked as the No. 28 overall player and No. 4 quarterback according to On3.

Landing Knight after picking up elite QB CJ Carr and talented passer Kenny Minchey in the 2023 class gives Notre Dame three straight classes of landing big time quarterbacks. Knight's potential, but need for some development, makes him the perfect quarterback to land a year after Carr, who has arguably the highest floor of any quarterback in his class.

The Mississippi native earned offers from the Irish, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Miami (Fla.), Washington, Oregon, TCU, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Auburn, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Louisville, Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt and Indiana.

Knight passed for just 1,929 yards and 11 touchdowns as a sophomore, while rushing for 488 yards and 12 more touchdowns. He transferred to Lipscomb Academy in Tennessee for his junior season, but eventually he transferred back to George County so he could be closer to his family. Prior to leaving Lipscomb, Knight passed for 259 yards and rushed for 62 yards in a matchup against IMG Academy.
