UCLA Football Lands Visit With 2028 3-Star Wide Receiver

All of the Bruins' focus may be on Cal, but UCLA is not slowing down at all on the recruiting trail.
Gameday Visit From 3-Star WR
3-star wide receiver DJ Tubbs announced via X that he will be taking an official game-day visit to UCLA on Oct. 24. That will be when the Bruins host Michigan State in their fifth conference game of the 2026 season.

Tubbs comes in at 5'10" and is the No. 76 wide receiver prospect in the 2028 class, according to 247Sports.
In addition to scheduling a visit with the Bruins, Tubbs is also set to visit Cal on Sep. 5, and while not on the UCLA side, he’ll be able to get another look at the Bruins before officially visiting.

Schools like Miami and Oklahoma are also involved, as he’s planning to visit both of those programs as well.
This won’t be the first time Tubbs visits the Bruins. He attended UCLA’s Junior Day back in January, where Bob Chesney and the staff were introduced to plenty of 2027 and 2028 recruiting talent.
How Can Tubbs Help UCLA?

Landing Tubbs will not be easy, as he already has a double-digit list of teams that have extended an offer. Tubbs' frame at 5’10 and 175 pounds makes him a quick and shifty slot receiver who excels at yards after the catch.
His speed also makes him a reliable deep threat who can hurt defenses from just about everywhere on the field. You can tell by watching his film that he is simply on a different level than the competition he’s playing against.

Being in the class of 2028, it could be incredibly helpful for Chesney to get a jump on recruits in that cycle, and if he can land a commitment following Tubbs' visit, it would set the Bruins up nicely for the future.
When it comes to UCLA’s chances, they have some advantages. UCLA is among the closest schools to home out of the many teams interested in Tubbs. If staying close to home is an important factor, UCLA very well could have a good jump on the other schools in pursuit.
Only time will tell exactly what Tubbs is looking for, but he would certainly make an excellent Bruin and be a huge win for Chesney and his staff.
