UCLA Women's Basketball: Bruins Star Named To NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team

Gregory Fisher-USA TODAY Sports

UCLA women's basketball star Lauren Betts was named to the Albany All-Regional Team for the 2024 NCAA Tournament. Betts was one of five players selected to the team, and the lone Bruin to make the cut. She joins LSU's Angel Reese and Flau'jae Johnson and Iowa's Caitlin Clark and Sydney Affolter on the team. Mirjam Swanson of The Orange County Register reported the news:

Betts was the lone player on the regional team to not advance to the NCAA Elite Eight, after LSU eliminated Betts and the Bruins 78-69 during the NCAA Sweet 16 on Saturday. Betts also made the team despite playing in just two of three possible games. She was impactful in both of those games, recording a double-double in each. Versus Creighton in the second round, Betts notched 20 points, 10 rebounds, and three assists. Against LSU in the Sweet 16, Betts added 14 points and 17 rebounds.

This was another honor to cap off what has been a great season for Betts. The 6-foot-7 center averaged nearly a double-double this season, recording 14.9 points, 9.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game. In her first season at UCLA after transferring from Stanford, Betts made her first All-Pac-12 team, joining comrades Charisma Osborne and Kiki Rice on the squad.

Betts was also one of five conference players to make the Pac-12's All-Defensive team. She joined teammate Osborne, Stanford's Cameron Brink, Arizona's Helena Pueyo, and Colorado's Jaylyn Sherrod on the All-Defensive team.
