A 7'1" center out of Sierra Vista High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, Staton has already put together an impressive list of offers. Virginia joins a busy recruiting battle as Staton has offers from nearly 30 programs, including UCLA, Kansas, Auburn, Illinois, Texas, Xavier, Memphis, LSU, Kansas State, Creighton, USC, TCU, Texas A&M, Arizona State, Northwestern, Washington State, DePaul, and others.
An elite shot-blocker, Staton is rated a three-star on 247Sports and ESPN, but he's a four-star according to On3, which rates him as the No. 90 overall player in the class of 2025, the No. 13 center in the country, and the No. 2 recruit in the state of Nevada. With the number and quality of basketball programs expressing serious interest in Staton, those recruiting numbers will likely improve drastically in the coming months.

There's a clearly a lot of competition for Staton's commitment, and the major conference offers from West Coast programs will certainly be tough to beat, but Tony Bennett reeled in a high-profile center from out west in 2022 in Idaho's Blake Buchanan, so it's certainly within the realm of possibility.
Virginia has now offered 13 players in the recruiting class of 2025:
- five-star power forward Bryson Tiller (Atlanta, GA)
- four-star point guard Chance Mallory (Charlottesville, VA)
- four-star combo guard Derek Dixon (Washington, D.C.)
- four-star wing Jacob Wilkins (Atlanta, GA)
- four-star power forward Nikola Bundalo (Uniontown, OH)
- four-star power forward London Jemison (Bloomfield, CT)
- four-star combo guard Darius Adams (Manasquan, NJ)
- four-star combo guard Jackson Keith (Durham, NC)
- five-star combo guard Jalen Haralson (Fishers, IN)
- four-star small forward Nate Ament (Manassas, VA)
- four-star combo guard Acaden Lewis (Washington, D.C.)
