The Oakland Athletics plan to move to move Las Vegas is experiencing more turbulence, and it all comes down to money.

Follow along:

In April, there was the report that the A's were looking for a ballpark in Las Vegas, seemingly making relocation from Oakland more likely.

Then, the team confirmed it.

Then, we heard that the team had reached an agreement on a ballpark site.

Finally, we recently heard that the ballpark agreement was "binding."

Even with that binding agreement in place, there were still questions about how the Nevada legislature would respond over the matter of funding.

Jaclyn Schultz of Fox5 in Las Vegas has more on Twitter:

HARDBALL ON STADIUM DEAL: Nevada lawmakers at the table will not go higher than $175 million for financing, per an official, leaving a $220 million gap outside Clark County bonds for the $395 million ask. There are doubts whether the A’s will fill that gap.

It's slightly unclear at this point exactly what the situation is, but the way it reads is that either the state of Nevada OR Clark County, Nevada is giving $175 million and the other entity is giving $0, leaving a $220 million gap in funding.

It could also be that the state is willing to give $175, the county is willing to give something (unknown how much) and the A's would be left to make up the rest, whatever it is.

Schultz correctly wonders if the A's will make up the money difference, but certainly who has followed the A's situation financially has a hard time believing they will.

It's quite possible that this ends up not happening, or not happening this legislative session, something that Adrian Hernandez of 'The Sporting Tribune' recently told our own Brady Farkas.
