Ailin Perez picked up a unanimous decision win against Lucie Pudilová Saturday night in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The victory, however, may have been overshadowed by what occurred before the UFC Vegas 82 fight.

Perez, who improved to 9-2 as a professional and 2-1 in the UFC, was involved in a brawl with Joselyn Edwards, a fellow bantamweight in the promotion. The attack left a noticeable black eye and, according to MMAMania, took place November 14, just four days out from Perez's fight.

Perez said Edwards was claiming Perez was critical of one of her performances, which she clarified during her UFC Vegas 82 post-fight interview:

"So, pretty much I’m someone just like everyone else. I don’t have a problem personally with anyone," Perez explained. "What I did was I stated my opinion online about the fight. I didn’t disrespect anyone, I didn’t talk bad about anyone.

"But this irrelevant lady came up to me after I opinionated about one of her fights, just talking about the performance that she did. And she came to assault me. She did assault me with the intention to make me pull out of my fight, but I’m sorry, she did not achieve it. I won and fought regardless of the assault that took place."

Perez complimented her coach and training partners for keeping the fight afloat:

"I want to thank my coach, who was there at the time of the assault, because if it wasn’t for him, I would have had much worse injuries because he was able to take her off me when she was assaulting me,” Perez said. “And the fight probably would have been off if it wasn’t for my coach, who saved me.”

Edwards also gave her side of the story, saying her safety was not a priority. Neither fighter has been suspended, and the UFC has yet to release a statement about the incident.
