Not So Fast: Lawsuits Between PGA Tour and LIV Golf Are Still Active

Both sides have not officially asked the court for a dismissal, so Judge Beth Labson Freeman is continuing to handle filings and orders.

The PGA Tour and LIV Golf's backer, the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia, announced an agreement one week ago and part of the agreement was the suspension of all lawsuits.

Clearly the memo didn’t reach Judge Beth Labson Freeman, a U.S. District Judge in San Jose, Calif.

On Tuesday, Judge Freeman issued an order granting a renewed motion to seal three exhibits LIV submitted in its opposition to a PGA Tour cross-motion for stay of discovery.

The order was just one in a long line of filings and orders since the case originally started on Aug. 3, 2022, and until all the parties ask the court for a dismissal of the cases, Judge Freeman will continue to do her job, including ruling on any outstanding issues and enforcing her timeline.

“The litigation is dropped,” Monahan said in a CNBC interview on June 6. “We’re announcing to the world that on behalf of this game, we’re coming together.”
