Iowa Girls High School State Bowling Champions Crowned

The Iowa girls high school bowling season came to a conclusion this week from the Cadillac XBC in Waterloo, Iowa.
Individual and team champions were crowned in three classes over three days.
Here is a recap from each day of the Iowa girls high school state bowling championships.
Olivia Steines, Decorah Claim Titles On Opening Day
Entering as the No. 5 seed in the bracket round, Camanche’s Olivia Steines found her groove, capturing gold in Class 1A.
Steines, a senior, bested Hadley Ihrig of Maquoketa in the finals, 193-185. She had a three-game total of 619 in prelims to reach the finals.
Keely Williams of Louisa-Muscatine was the top finisher, as she rolled a 666. Steines knocked off Williams in the semifinals, 225-220.
In the 2A team battle, Decorah finished first, as the No. 2 seed Vikings topped No. 1 Clinton, 3-1. Decorah also bested Le Mars, 3-2, in the semifinals to reach the championship match.
Waverly-Shell Rock’s Paetra Sauer was the individual adaptive champion.
Emily Whitehead, Des Moines Lincoln Add Championships
Emily Whitehead of Clinton battled through a strong field to capture the 2A individual state championship over Decorah’s Marri Feuerhelm one day after Feuerhelm helped her team win gold.
Whitehead, also the No. 5 seed through the opening games, rolled a 233 in the finals to Feuerhelm’s 207. Top-seed Sidney Thompson of Oskaloosa was upset in the quarterfinals by Jaelynn Ketterer from Keokuk, 238-213.
In the semis, Whitehead eliminated Ketterer in a thriller, 204-201. Feuerhelm was the No. 7 seed.
All of the Top 8 finished in the high 600s, led by a 696 series from Thompson.
The 3A team title went to Des Moines Lincoln, as the Railsplitters topped Ottumwa in the finals.
Waterloo West had the top score out of the early rounds with a 2,998 series. Des Moines Lincoln was second and Dubuque Senior third before bracket play commenced.
Ottumwa stunned Waterloo West in the semis, 3-0, as Des Moines Lincoln topped Dubuque Senior.
Louisa-Muscatine, Skye Jungwirth Score Titles On Final Day
Louisa-Muscatine claimed its eighth state bowling team championship in school history, defeating Davis County in five games in 1A.
Maquoketa was the top-seed, but Davis County edged them in five. Louisa-Muscatine swept Camanche in the other semifinal, 3-0, before securing gold with a 3-2 victory.
No. 2 seed Skye Jungwirth of Bettendorf won the 3A individual title, topping Michelle Wilson from Des Moines Lincoln in the finals, 223-173.
Wilson’s teammate, Morgan Andrews, had the top game score with a 704 series.
