Giants trade for Astros infielder Keppinger

The Giants have acquired infielder Jeff Keppinger from the Astros for two minor-league pitchers.

The pitchers are Henry Sosa and Jason Stoffel, according to an Astros spokesman.

In 43 games with the Astros this season, Keppinger is hitting .307 with four homers and 20 RBIs. The Giants will be Keppinger's fifth major-league team (Mets, Royals, Reds).

Sosa, 25, is 3-1 with a 10.41 ERA in 17 appearances -- all in relief -- at Class AAA Fresno.

Stoffel, 22, also a reliever, is 1-2 with a 3.98 ERA in 32 games. He was the Giants' fourth-round pick in the 2009 amateur draft.
