The Indians placed catcher Yan Gomes on the seven-day concussion list on Saturday, the team announced.

Gomes was hit in the mask with a ball that ricocheted off Kurt Suzuki's left arm in Thursday's game in Minnesota. The 27-year-old experienced some dizziness on Friday but had shown improvement by Saturday morning.

"He did some things today and just still feels some symptoms," said manager Terry Francona. "This isn't something you can rush through. We're going to figure something out."

Gomes, who is hitting .284 with 17 home runs and 53 RBI in 109 games this season, will be replaced in the lineup by rookie Roberto Perez.
