Chicago Cubs release 2017 schedule: opponents, dates

The Chicago Cubs have released their preliminary schedule for the 2017 season on Wednesday night.

The Cubs will open the 2017 season on the road at Busch Stadium as they face the St. Louis Cardinals on April 3 for a three-game series. The team will make another quick stop for three games in Milwaukee before opening at Wrigley Field on April 10.

Other interesting matchups include a rare road trip by the Cubs to Fenway Park to play the Red Sox from April 28 to 30 before a visit by the New York Yankees to Wrigley Field from May 5 to 7.

Cross-town rival Chicago White Sox will be held on July 24 and 25 at the newly named Guaranteed Rate Field before hosting on the 26th and 27th.

If fans are already curious about playoff implications in 2017, the Cubs will close out the regular season against the Cincinnati Reds on September 29 to Oct. 1 at home.
