SI Insider: What Teams Will Benefit Most From The New Playoff Schedule?
The newly announced playoff schedule does not incorporate any days off into the individual series except for the World Series.
The normal schedule would include multiple days off within the individual playoff series, allowing teams to mostly just start their 3 best pitchers. Last year, the Nationals were able to start their 3 best pitchers for 14 of their 17 playoff games during their championship run last season.
So which teams will benefit most from this? SI senior writer Tom Verducci says it'll be the teams with the most pitching depth, primarily the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Tampa Bay Rays.
