Beilein under fire for late mistake
In the end, it goes down as a second-place finish, which doesn't make it any easier to swallow for Michigan coach John Beilein. [Beilein] addressed two controversial decisions in his postgame news conference Monday night: Why Trey Burke did not re-enter the game late in the first half and why U-M did not foul quickly during one sequence in the final minute. Burke picked up his second foul with 11:09 left in the first half of the NCAA championship game. ... Beilein admitted in the news conference that he thought the next foul would have sent a Cardinal to the line. "I thought (they) were in the one-and-one," Beilein said. "It was a coaching error." Ravens eye Boldin's replacement
While Anquan Boldin is out, a draft prospect drawing comparisons to him may be in. [Gil Brandt] is the most notable of the draft analysts who see a young Boldin when watching tape of Clemson wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who as a junior caught 82 passes for 1,405 yards and 18 touchdowns. ... According to my colleague Aaron Wilson, the Ravens met with Hopkins at the NFL scouting combine back in February and have "maintained interest" in the 20-year-old wide receiver since. Listed at 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, Hopkins is as tall as Boldin, but Boldin, who led the Ravens in receiving yards in each of the past three seasons, has about 20 pounds of muscle on Hopkins. Swisher still stung by Bronx tale
Life has been good for Nick Swisher since arriving in his new baseball hometown, batting cleanup and playing first for the Indians. But the 32-year-old admitted he was "hurt" by the Yankees' decision to let him go without even an offer last winter after he averaged 26 home runs and 87 RBI per season during his four-year run in pinstripes. "It hurt," Swisher said before going 1-for-3 in a loss to his former team. "When it boils down to it, they didn't come to me. They didn't even offer anything. In a situation like that, as much as I love that city and as hard as it was for me to leave, I had to do what was best for my family and myself." (New York Daily News)Comment
