For Sale By Owners: a valuable patch of basketball real estate on television every night.

NBA owners approved a measure Friday that clears the way for sponsorship logos on their players as soon as next season. The patches will appear on the front left of the jersey, opposite Nike's logo, and measure about 2 1/2 by 2 1/2 inches.

The three-year trial could lead to the NFL, Major League Baseball and NHL moving in the same direction, but it's already a common practice around the world.

From rugby in South Africa to table tennis in Asia, it includes the world's biggest sports stars, and some players who need all the financial help they can find. NASCAR drivers are walking billboards, and some Premier League teams are identified more by their corporate sponsors than their actual names.
