The Yankees have announced Alex Rodriguez has been assigned a second minor league injury rehabilitation assignment Friday and Saturday with their Double-A affiliate Trenton. The Yankees' plans could change if Rodriguez is suspended as part of Major League Baseball's Biogenesis investigation.

USA Today reported Wednesday that Commissioner Bud Selig is prepared to place a lifetime suspension on Rodriguez. His attorney, David Cornwell, has said he will appeal any suspension.

Rodriguez played in a simulated game at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa Thursday. The ballpark and game was closed to the media who watched from a walkway behind the right-field bullpen.

According to the Associated Press, Rodriguez had several at-bats, played third and ran bases during the simulated game.
