The Colorado Rockies are expected to place all-star outfielder Carlos Gonzalez on the 15-day disabled list, according to a Denver Post report.

A sprained right middle finger has severely limited Gonzalez's ability to take full swings and he is expected to be shelved before the Rockies' upcoming series against the New York Mets. Gonzalez said he doesn't want to go on the disabled list but said he "can't swing" and he's just a "slap hitter" because that's all his injured finger is allowing him to do.

According to the report, Gonzalez took an uncomfortable swing in his final at-bat on Sunday and even though the Rockies have an off-day on Monday, Gonzalez is likely heading to the disabled list. Over the weekend, Gonzalez missed Friday's game against the Pirates while being limited to pinch-hitting duties on Saturday before starting Sunday's finale.
