The Browns have traded former first-round pick Trent Richardson to the Colts for a first-round pick, as first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Colts confirmed the trade.

Cleveland selected Richardson out of Alabama with the third overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft.

Richardson rushed for 950 yards and a Browns rookie record-tying nine touchdowns last season.

Colts owner Jim Irsay stoked media interest Wednesday afternoon when he teased a blockbuster trade via Twitter.
