Steelers president: Contract extension for Ben Roethlisberger will happen

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has indicated that he wants to retire as a Steeler and team president Art Rooney II echoed those sentiments on Wednesday when he met with reporters.
Rooney said that he wants to extend Roethlisberger's contract and it will happen in the future.
Roethlisberger, 31, has two years left on an eight-year, $102 million deal he signed in 2008 and is scheduled to make $12.1 million next season and $11.6 million in 2015.
"We've got to have Ben retire as a Steeler," Rooney said, via the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. "There's no doubt about that."
Rooney said that while the team has extended quarterbacks while they have a few years left on their contract, it is “not set in stone . . . it’s not something that’s automatic.’’
