Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis will undergo arthroscopic surgery on Tuesday for a meniscus tear in his left knee, the team announced.

Ellis suffered the injury trying to score from second on Andre Ethier's pinch-hit single Saturday. This is the second time Ellis will undergo the surgery to repair a meniscus tear in his left knee. He also went through the same surgery after the 2012 season.

Ellis, 33, said on Twitter that he hopes to be back on the field soon.
