Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig will return to the team's lineup on Friday night after missing a mid-week series against the Detroit Tigers due to a strained ligament in his thumb, according to CBSSports.com

Puig injured his left thumb diving back to first base to avoid a pick off attempt in the team's loss to the San Francisco Giants on Saturday, and an MRI later showed a strain after X-rays came back negative.

The Dodgers are scheduled to face their divisional rivals the Arizona Diamondbacks, with Zach Greinke taking on Arizona's Brandon McCarthy.
