A.J. Burnett leaves Phillies game early with groin soreness

A.J. Burnett left his start against the Miami Marlins in the fifth inning after experiencing soreness in his groin, according to CBSSports.com's Dayn Perry.

Burnett had difficulty locating his pitches all night, throwing just 54 strikes in his 106 pitch outing, before taking himself out of the game in the middle of Casey McGehee's at bat as the Phillies led 3-2.

The right-hander was in his third start since joining the Phillies on a two-year, $22.5 million dollar deal that could increase in value all the way to $33.5 million, if the 37-year old makes 30 or more starts both years.
